    Disobedience = Consequence

It may be wise therefore to speak with him for a few moments about the reasonableness of a place called hell. Reason with him by saying, “If a judge in Florida turns a blind eye to the unlawful dealings of the Mafia, if he sees their murderous acts and deliberately turns the other way, is he a good or bad judge? He’s obviously corrupt, and should be brought to justice himself.

IF HE IS A GOOD JUDGE, he will do everything within his power to bring those murderers to justice. He should make sure that they are justly punished.

“If Almighty God sees a man rape and strangle to death your sister or mother, do you think He should look the other way, or bring that murderer to justice?

If He looks the other way, He’s corrupt and should be brought to justice Himself. It makes sense then, that if God is good, He will do everything in His power to ensure justice is done.

The Bible tells us that He will punish murderers,

and the place of punishment—the prison God will send them to—is a place called hell. “God should punish murderers and rapists.

However, GOD IS SOOOO GOOD, he will also punish thieves, liars, adulterers, fornicators, and blasphemers.

He will even punish those who desired to murder and rape but never took the opportunity. He warns that if we hate someone, we commit murder in our hearts. If we lust, we commit adultery in the heart, etc.”

To Summarize, the Law shows that He cares enough to see that Justice is served to ALL EVIL-DOERS. He sent Himself in the form of a man (as Jesus) to take our punishment upon Himself & impute His righteousness onto us so that we could be seen as perfect in the sight of God – as He would have seen Jesus. A legal-transaction took place on the cross. That was how God has shown His love to us.

  • Okay, where are these verses from? You do not understand as you do not understand the context. It is really easy to pull out a verse or two and say it means one thing or another when in reality in context it means something entirely different. To understand the context of verses you also need to understand the culture of the people of the day in which the scripture was written. In our modern world many of the verses of the Bible seem odd and contradictory, but through the lens of the culture of the era one sees the validity of what is said as well as the significance of what is said.

The last 2 verses you quote shows how God values the husband and wife relationship and the family. In first verse a married woman has violated the trust of her husband and chose to destroy her marriage. The second verse is a virgin who didn’t cry out loud enough isn’t about a girl who was beaten during a rape but about an engaged virgin who had sex by a man who is not her fiance (rape here is mistranslated – it means sex outside of marriage with someone other than her fiance), but did not sound the alarm because she was an active participant. In other words, forcible rape did not occur. We all know the pain and problems affairs whether by those inside of marriage or in a committed relationship. This is why God’s counsel is so severe. It was his way of protecting the family and making husband and wives work their problems out. It may be sever, but if we had the same laws today, how much more would people make sure they are marrying the right person and would try to work things out.

  • Well lets say that lion man was led to think one of his mistresses was consensual, and were doing a full on act of adultery, then lets say that this woman being married thought her husband was due home next week, and walked in on them; Lets say he had been home now for five minutes, but was using the bathroom down stairs taking a dump, but heard no screams no wrestling struggles, what would you believe, what would save your son from any guilt?

Now the verse you used really says that when the girl comes out from the field, supposing no one could hear her screams and struggles of resistance. (Please don’t be naive to think their isn’t any pleasure here) But the woman who truly resist will go immediately to the police coming out from the field or other wise. It is her obligation, and all this well; i was afraid to come forward stuff is just her consequence.

Now defending the mind of the LORD here is all i’m doing as for you, you are judging God. Do you realize the seed you are sowing? There is a direct parallel to this seemingly fault with God and God’s not allowing sin in heaven

Oh I almost forgot, you think you will be surrounded by virgins in your air castle heaven, Hmmmm

Well that’s what happens when you think wrong, you then understand wrong, and then you live wrong.

Remember this corruption doesn’t inherit in corruption, no more can finite minds fly the height of the infinite.

sincerely the truth, edwah z j

  • All the words that you have patiently collected to come up with an evidence to show how cruel is the Bible seems to be picked only for the purpose of saying so.

I believe you never really have been interested to know what will justify the words why it has to happen. You are just same as the common prosecutors of any justice hall, who will not be interested to know or listen further the explanation as to why a witness would have to say yes or no that it may jeopardize his intention to lead where he wanted it in his favor and not really in obtaining the truth.

First, it is not the Bible that is cruel and you know it is just an instrument of writings to make a story and send a message at the same time. In any story book, it is always the characters that are depicted to be good or bad and not the book itself and it goes the same to the Bible.

If ever, you also have to understand that the Bible was primarily written by Jews for the Jews who were establishing a nation of people who must live and believe in One Singular God with no other traditions by other nations who also happened to believe in other gods and live in the ways that is not acceptable to the Jewish traditions.

Too bad the original text was taken by Christians whose main purpose was merely to claim credibility to the origin of Jesus Christ and you are caught ignorantly by their teachings that have obviously twisted the book to cater to their own intentions.

  • I don’t believe that a Christian who has studied the Bible and knows of the history of mankind would tell you that God is “a God of Peace” in our times … Of course, the timeline that you’re referring to had God’s people surrounded by those who tried to wipe them out or enslave them – so God was telling His followers that they had permission to protect themselves, and even be proactive about it.

God, as described in the Old Testament, is a just God – however, He did inspire the writers of the records that became the Bible to put down the prophecies of a hope… that hope was not Obama, in case you think otherwise… the hope that became the Savior is and was Jesus.

I like how you pick and choose the quotations… here are a few more for you to add:

Thou shalt have no other Gods before me.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever shall believe in Him shall not die, but have life everlasting.

For man is saved by grace, not of works, lest any man should boast.

    Faith without works is dead.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

  • The Bible was written by men, inspired by God. It was translated by men, inspired by God. It was not written by God Himself.

The original writers wrote how they wrote, if they said God commanded this or that, it may or may not have been their belief that this was so. I don’t believe that God actually commanded these behaviors. I believe that these actions were carried out and written the wrong way, or translated the wrong way. Societies were more barbaric, and cruel back then. Just like 1 years ago people wrote about blacks as if they were not even a part of the human race. Racist comments today were common language back then. You have to read the Bible in the way it was intended, that is to understand the cultures and the societies of when it was written. It’s kind of like saying that Mark Twain was an extreme racist, when he was simply writing using the politically correct language of the day.

This is a perfect example of how the claim of “Biblical Infallibility” has a way of backfiring. LDS-Christians however don’t hold to Biblical Infallibility.

  • Ya need to list the “proper, and complete” address of the scripture. Your attempting to take The Word out of context. But you are correct, no where will ya find that The Word says that God is “nice”. He is ruthlessly righteous, just, truth, love, and hate. And He never said He would do things our way. We don’t have a clue. You do have to admit, IF we did live by The Bible, there would be no prisons, welfare, gangs, crime or corruption in general, etc., and that would be a great change, for the better.

  • Your ripped quite a few verses out of context; in fact you showed absolutely no regard for context at all. You also have have not considered the historical or cultural settings in which these verse were written. Some of what you wrote is just outright distortion. I will share this much-some of cities and cultures that God told Israel to do away with where practicing the most debased behaviors possible, (example-live child sacrifices).

  • You might want to check out the Enula Elish, or the Epic of Gilgamesh, if you want to see bloodthirsty cruelty. The Bible pales by comparison.

Christians do not agree about the passages you have quoted, or at least that you have tried to quote. Personally, I view these passages as the best understanding of God that the people of the time could comprehend. No, they weren’t where God wanted them to be–but God had to start somewhere, with somebody.

  • Everyone who tries to prove that the bible is rubbish will cite verses from the Old Testament. Do any of you atheists EVER read the New Testament? If you have, have you not noticed the ‘good news’ which Jesus brought, the ‘good’ things that He did for people and the LOVE that He showed when He gave His life so that we might be forgiven our sins?

b.t.w. When you quote from the bible it is a good idea to state which book of the bible your verses are from. Giving just the chapter and verse are not enough for those who do not know much about the bible but might wish to look up the verses you quote. You seem to enjoy copying, cutting and pasting these particular ones..
