Do you still use Xp, and think it’s a viable OS for today, since Vista and are out?

Are Vista and a step back from XP, and just improvements on the way the interface and themes look, or what? Just wondering, I mean XP has been out for a while, is that good, cause it’s had time to test out all it’s bugs and problems?

  • We have XP Home and Pro on all of our PCs. If you keep up with the updates and setup reasonable security measures its fine.

  • Windows is great if you have a recent computer.

XP is great if you have a ~ era computer.

Vista a was a complete miss on Microsoft’s part. The problems with Vista greatly outweighed the benefits. Now, with Windows ‘s release I would recommend Windows to those who have a decent PC and can afford to have a slightly more intensive OS running in the background (XP is best for gaming on old machines due to it’s insignificant memory usage).

All in all, I think XP is loosing strength with the release of Windows but I think it will be some time untill we will see the corporate shift from XP to Windows .

  • Until Win takes off, in about a year, XP will be the OS of choice. Most if not all businesses specify XP for the PCs in their enterprise and many people I know simply wipe Vista and install XP on their computers. Vista is a big flop from day one. This is one reason why Win is out so soon after Vista release.

  • XP will be around for a while.

MS focus’s mainly on huge corporations. Those huge corporations have not all made the vista/win jump yet. So MS actually extended the amount of time that windows XP will be supported with security updates and patch’s.

windows xp support was supposed to expire back in , but it will now be supported until .

Once the support for updates ends in you will want to switch to one of the newer operating systems (Win?) Windows without security updates is dangerous.

  • windows xp is a fast OS. but it doesn’t have much options and is virus prone. windows vista and are slow but have many options and are more protected.
