Does a lot of so called paranormal activity tend to happen on the highest floor?

I watch Ghost Hunters (TAPS – The Atlantic Paranormal Society) and when they investigate a place with possible hauntings it can happen anywhere.

Please let me explain my situation at work: I work graveyards at a seniors assisted living complex alternatively with day shifts. For some strange reason during the day light hours there is no problem to go up to the 3rd floor. After midnight, me as housekeeper and the my partner the Care Aid go up together to the 3rd floor to clean the bathrooms, remove garbage and perform basic janitorial. No one wants to go up there unaccompanied by themselves. Too many stories to share on that one..

We have never told any new employees about this situation. But they all experience the same paranoia and need to get back on the elevator and return to the first as quickly as they can.

Is it a case of Electrical Magnetic Fields as work? Or is it something else? Can anyone share a similar situation. Only two residents at our seniors home have died and they were both on the first floor in the same suite. Nowhere else.

Update 2:

Thank you for answering Henry & Tomb Raider.

But Henry – People DO live on the 3rd floor in their own individual suites. Many on the 3rd floor without dementia or other elderly brain disorders have mentioned about weird knockings on their doors around 3 – 4 AM. They wake up, put on their dressing robes and open their doors to no one….

  • Radio Jingles,I also watch each and every show that has to deal with the paranormal.I have had several experiences over my life time.My opinion is that paranormal activity can happen at any given time.I am aware of the EMF’s.They say that this helps a spirit to manifest it’s self.Spirits can travel any where.Often they will hide out in attics or basements or even closets.I think that the best way to see if this upstairs has high EMF’s would be to get a detector. They do say that high EMF’s can make a person feel paranoid and like they are being watched. They can also cause headaches, skin irritations and even hallucinations as well and nausea. Some people are highly sensitive to these fields than others.

  • I would think that it is possible for EMF’s to be the cause of the problem. Do you happen to have large equipment up there or anything? I dont know what kind of stuff an assisted living place might need…generators? medical equipment?

Is it possible that its just creepy at night? I have been places that during the day were welcoming…no issues at all. But it seemed like when the sun went down, the whole place changed. I dont think it was anything more than my perception of the place, but it was very unnerving.

If you are really interested in what you might find, stick a digital recorder around and let it run for a few nights. Walk around and snap random pictures of the places where the activity seems to be the highest.

Never rule out a totally mundane causes. How old is the building? Could the knocks and bangs be pipes? Other patients making noises? Something outside? This may not be the case in your situation, but I think far too often people just to a paranormal solution, when a little investigation would lead them to a perfectly mundane answer.

I lived for 20 years in a home where add things happened on an almost daily basis. There was never an explanation for any of it. Nothing at all. So I know how interesting, and sometimes frightening it can be. I would be very interested in what you find!

  • From my experience, here’s what I suspect:

When I was a teenager, I worked at a large resort. This resort was allegedly haunted, and the “activity” was most pronounced in building 1 and building 7. These buildings were the furthest from the lobby.

It seems the further we get from help (mainly, other people) the more uneasy we get, especially in a creepy environment late at night. The only time I was overwhelmed with generalized terror in my life was when the hotel was completely empty (0.1%) and I was in building 1, a full 1/4 mile from anyone else.

My experience had nothing to do with ghosts, EMFs, demons or anything supernatural. Simply being in an unfamiliar, mildly creepy setting and knowing that I was (for all intents and purposes) alone, was enough to let my mind play tricks on me. I suspect the same thing is happening at your place of employment.

  • Generally speaking, people are more likely to get creeped out on a high floor. There are fewer exits so they feel trapped. Bedrooms tend to be on high floors in houses so people feel vulnerable because that’s where they are when it’s dark, and the higher up a floor is in a building the more likely it is to make noises due to expansion/contraction, the wind and so on as the top floors of building move more than the bottom floors.

This isn’t the same thing as actual paranormal activity. There is no real correlation between hight and paranormal activity, except that in certain buildings something may have happened on a certain floor to cause a ghost to be created or something similar.

  • Based on many variables and the fact that people bleed more on a full moon including the busier Accident and Emergency cases, I reckon it implies that the more activity in the field like that experienced on and around a full moon, the faster the blood circulation flowing to the brain is, and will cause an over-active imagination.

I have experienced what I believe to be natural phenomena but not ghosts as such only what can be an over-active imagination and the effects that positive and negative ions have in the atmosphere, although occuring on a Quantum scale. These particle fields of energy are hard to measure and predict, but many of us appear to find Quantum deception through inference on a local scale, as the cosmos effects everything in the whole scheme of things. We only need to take a closer look because just by observing it changes its behaviour, as if by magic.

(Did that wittle out OK? Dunno much just interested)

Just 3rd floor you say? It would surely depend on the altitude of that particular floor I think we are clearly on different levels here dear 😉

Source(s): I always feel more tense, in the form of hyper-active imagination or manic thoughts, anxiety and nervous energy in the days leading up to and on a full moon.

  • Certain toxic gasses can rise to the top floor… and in very low

doses they just make people feel uncomfortable or sometimes

hallucinate a bit. You can get checked for gases pretty easily.

Beyond that, there are indeed some metaphysical phenomena

that are not related to human deaths… and in those cases you

will have some more definite evidence, eventually.

    Good luck,

    Jean

  • I have read about it happening anywhere. Any floor. Any time.

Maybe the 3rd floor there is just haunted by a negative spirit (s).

  • Wow, you fell for that old trick that the old staff likes to play on the new one? “We don’t clean up that floor because it’s SPoOOOOoOOOooky!!!”

I used to do that when I worked in a movie-plex to trick the new kids into doing clean up on the 2nd level all by themselves, they actually did it because they thought 1) they were being brave and 2) they’d witness paranormal phenomenon!

And the new employees are just acting spooked because YOU are acting strange around them.

Hey, want to clean my house? It’s hauuuuuuunted, I’d do it myself but I’m frightened!

  • you need some one to life there to create the territory for the living,

to disturb that e field or something, jut light a bulb, not fluorescent one, but the one with coil or something that expel heat. or turn on radio
