st. Maarten often & they charge credit cards in US dollars. There never was a fee for this but now there is. I could understand if it was different currency but charging & not having to convert !!

  • If you go there often, could you open up a bank account there and a get an ATM card with a local bank. I also think there are some networks of banks that allow very low fee foreign ATM withdrawals (NovaScotia bank is one, I believe) so you could put your travel money in this bank, and then use a St Maarten ATM to pay for your purchases there in cash.
