i would just like to find out, my nephew is only six weeks old and he has a bad eye infection aswell as an ear infection the doctor has prescribed antibiotics but it doesnt seem to work as his ear and eye is still the same. we are concerned that it is not the right thing to do to be giving a six week old baby antibiotics. can someone please assist.

I know it sounds weird but if the mother is breastfeeding then get her to squirt a little breast milk in his eye, depending on the type on infection this should clear it up.
Regarding the ear infection make sure the baby finishes the course of antibiotics. By the time the course of antibiotics has finished then it should be all better, if not then go back to his doctor or seek a second opinion.

Try putting some in a medicine dropper and giving it every minutes when he's awake. Infant tylenol will help with the fever and any pain he's in. Call your doctor for the correct dosage. Usually if the baby is weaned, you should stay away from milk for a day or two. If he's breastfed, you can usually continue as normal. Dry snacks and bananas can help with diarrhea if that happens. Increase the amount of FRUIT you're giving her. There is far more fiber in the flesh and peel of fruits than in juice. Juice in all honesty is flavored sugar water with vitamin c. That is unless you fresh squeeze all of the juice you give her. And that is not the easiest for most of us who are busy!
