Fishing license in texas?

if I have a fishing license can I take someone with me if they dont have a fishing license. just so I wont be alone,they are not going to fish. I just want to know are they allowed to be beside me?

  • The answer is ” yes.” You can have a person or people around you while you fish. As the only person with a license, your friend is not allowed to hold, cast or attempt to catch ( even by just pulling the line which is attached to the rod and reel) because this means they are attempting to take (fishing). Get caught and it’s a fine and will be on a list of poachers in the area. There are some rules that will allow your friend to fish without needing a license. If I remember right, if his I.D. shows he’s fishing within his county, he may be able to use a cane pole or a a hand line. You’ll have to check out your fishery rules on that, it’s been awhile since I was up in Texas and rules change on a dime.
