Hacked a cassette player with an aux cable but the sound is pretty scratchy?

I am using my cassette player in my Chevy silverado (20) to put an aux port in my truck. I located the left and right channels coming from the tape player and replaced them with my aux line. Plugged my phone in and i can hear the music from my phone but it is not great quality. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The cassette player will have a built in amplifier, your phone will only have a very small pre-amp – not sure that there is a very good way of doing what you are trying to do. I guess you have tried whacking up the volume of your phone?
There are some very cheap 12V amplifiers from China on eBay – that might be a solution, but it’s probably easier to get a cheap in car radio with aux input – they are also fairly cheap (ie. no CD player or cassette etc… designed for just radio and MP3)
