This Cage has a bunch of rocks on the bottom and there is food and hermit crab waste in the rocks and they are so dirty and it is starting to smell really bad. Any suggestions would help! Thanks So Much!!

first of all hermit crabs can not be kept in a cage, they have to be kept in a tank … the size should be a minimum of ten gallons … and rocks are 1% INAPPROPRIATE SUBSTRATE for hermit crabs … how on earth can your crab (guaranteed you have ONE crab when they HAVE to be kept in groups) molt in rocks ??? did you do any research on hermit crabs before you begged mommy and daddy to buy you this one ??? cleaning the cage is the least of your worries and the fact you can not even grasp how to clean a small critter keeper is offensive and your crab is doing nothing but dieing … which would make YOU an animal abuser …
1- remove the crab from the cage ( so like put the crab in a small cup or someone with what ever it will need while you do the rest)
2 – get a strainer type thing and pour the rocks into it.
3 – wash under water (if you use soap make sure all the soap is off the rocks)
4 – put everything back to the way it was before the cage cleaning
5 – put the crab back 😀

Remove everything and wash it with hot water, dry with paper towel, and put back. Do not use soap, as hermies are highly sensitive to chemicals.
And to be honest with you, this does not sound like a suitable hermit crab enclosure at all. For one, they cannot live in a cage! You need a glass tank (at least 10-20 gallons) to regulate humility, which is essential for their survival. You also cannot use rocks at all! Hermit crabs NEED to be able to bury themselves in their bedding, and it must be able to hold moisture. The appropriate choice of bedding is peat moss, never rocks or sand. They are also social and should not live alone. At this rate, the crab does not have very long to live…
Hermit crabs should not be kept in the cage. The crabitat should not be small too. For the cleaning, take out all things to wash with plain water.
