HOW CAN I HELP MY SISTER…SHE'S ADDICTED?

My 12 (almost) 13 year old sister is ADDICTED to her game Wizard 101. She plays it on the computer all…day…long. Literally from the time she wakes up to when she goes to bed. The only time she doesn’t play it is if she’s eating dinner, someone kicks her off because they need the computer, or my parents FORCE her to go outside.

My parents try to get her to do things like go to the lake or ride her bike. But she’ll get cranky about it. We live in Massachusetts and all the kids here don’t like to play with eachother, they’re all really shady and live far away. Back when my family lived in Southern New Jersey, the kids actually got along and would play everyday (I know because my ex bf’s brother is the same age as my sister and he walks over to their houses everyday or goes out to the woods or parks and plays with them).

When I was her age (I’m 21) I had 1 hour a day on AOL. I literally had to wait like 20 mins for my sister to get off to go on my email and then to go on here and write this question. She’ll say “Omg, wait just one minute, I’m in a battle and I have to help this person or they’ll be mad at me.” She is addicted. My brother even half seriously said “Emily we need to have an intervention”. My parents are trying to make her read books and stuff… but my whole family feels bad for her. Her childhood sucks… how can I help her?

  • Try to find s omething she likes better than wizard 101, but is healthier. If she likes it more, she will gradually fall away from the computer game, and she won’t play aas much. Don’t be too harsh or take it away completely though, it wont help her. If you really want her to stop playing comepletely, gradually give her less time for it until she is used to less time.

    Hope I Helped! 🙂
