  • My guy and I were on our way to his mother’s house for what I thought was just a simple get together with some family and friends. So we’re driving along and he says “I got a Halloween surprise for you when we get there.” Immediately, my reaction was guilt because I hadn’t thought to get him anything and I told him so, and he just said don’t worry about it.

We roll up to his mother’s house, and he tells me to get out of the car and to close my eyes. He came up behind me and put his hands over my eyes, because I’m not to be trusted when it comes to surprises, mostly because I just don’t like them that much. So he’s leading me to the lawn and I hear his mother come out of the house (her high heels gave it away) then as soon as she was there, she was in the house again. Then my guy tells me to open my eyes, and there on the outside window ledge is a pumpkin with the words “Will You Marry Me?” carved into it. It didn’t register in my mind what was going on so I had to read the pumpkin like, 8 times to really get the hint that he was actually proposing! I turned around and there he was down on one knee with the ring and I screamed “YES! OF COURSE I WILL!” at the top of my lungs and started crying, then he started crying and it was just a big cry fest!

He had been planning since March of 2010! Sneaky… πŸ™‚

  • I think my mother’s first marriage was interesting. She was in Utah, he was in New Jersey. She flew out to see him and he took her to New York City and were on top of one of the World Trade Center towers when he proposed. My mother didn’t say yes until two weeks later though, LOL. When those towers fell I knew it impacted them a lot for that reason. A lot of people died, which is horrible, but I think a lot of other memories died that day as well.

As for me, I’d love mine to be a show stopper. I’m not about personal displays of affection, but I’d love it to be something special and out of the ordinary. I saw a proposal on YouTube with this guy who used to work at Disneyland and got some of the employees to make up a song and perform it to her about him proposing. I love Disney as well and if we were in one of the parades and he proposed or something. I’d really like it to be extravagant in some form of another, but that’s ideal, LOL.

  • I haven’t gotten married yet, I haven’t even been proposed to yet but I will tell you how my friend’s little sister got proposed to.

He took her on a hot air balloon sometime last Summer and proposed to her she said “yes” and while they were on the air balloon he said “can we just get married right now?” she laughed and said “yes” the guy with them on the balloon was able to officiate the wedding and when they landed he had a beautiful white table spread out with champagne and strawberries. She said it was beautiful and the most romantic experience of her life πŸ™‚

  • I proposed to my wife very romantically. We were diving out of a plane and I proposed while our parachutes glided down the horizon, and I a local band and the bottom sing “more than anyone” by Gavin Degraw because I had met her at a dance on valentines day and that was the first dance we danced to. It became our song. So when we landed the band played and our families Congradulated us. It was awesome. Needless to say, i love her dearly with every cell of my being.

I proposed to a girl right after my last game as a senior in D2 college. But she was embarrassed and rejected me. At the time it was the worst moment of my life, but now i realize it was a blessing in diguise.

  • I got engaged when I was 21, my partner took me out for a meal at my fave joint and proposed there, It was lovely!

Altho I did answer yes immediately, I also said after, that it wouldnt be for at least another 8 years, Im 21, and said im far too young but would marry you in years to come, after a discussion stating the obvious that if it was meant to be and we last whether we are married or not then thats the way it would be.

We share everything together, and im 24 this year and have been together over 4 years!

Can I also add that marriage these days seems to be a thing that everyone is getting into, and throwing round divorces like no tomorrow! I believe marriage is something that needs great thought and should only be done once! Whether you get married a year into a relationship or 10 years into a relationship,it should not matter. All that matters is that you love each other and want to be with each other, If a couple need to get married to prove this then they should not be together!!

My parents were together 9 years before getting married and have been together for over 34 years! And there the most loved up couple I know and Im so happy for them!

    :-DDD

  • I practiced my proposal over and over until I had it down to EXACTLY 10 seconds.

This was back in November 29, so from there I just waited until December 31st, and while everyone was busy counting down the 10 seconds to usher in the new year, I was on one knee proposing to my future wife. Talk about a fun way to start the new year πŸ˜€

We married in September 2010 in the open by the Ottawa river. From there we all went to Quebec and partied it out in a white tent. It was a fantastic day, but somehow it was over in the blink of an eye. To this day I wish I could have spent more time with my guests, but as they’ve all told me, it’s impossible πŸ™‚

I married the perfect women. We dated for 5 years before I proposed, and every day since has been greater than the last. Take your time before you propose, it’s a big step, and you want to make sure you have the right woman.

If I had one tip to offer it’s the following: If you don’t see you and your wife becoming best friends, don’t bother. Eventually lust and excitement will ware off (age does that to you) but friendship is the bond that will carry you to the ends of the world.

  • When I was stationed in Calgary in 1985, my then girl friend form Nottingham, England (we met in Elate, Israel) was staying with me. We decided that we would visit Banff National park. In doing so we also decided to hike up Sulfur Mountain, cross the small valley to the second peak and have a picnic lunch over looking the Bow river and falls. My girl friend new that I was going to propose, just didn’t know when. We had already been looking at rings and unknown to her, I had purchased one of her choices. So, after that wonderful hike and lunch, I got down on bended knee 25 years ago and asked my life long partner, friend and lover to be my wife. PS. for those that are familiar with the area, we did take the Gondola down.

  • The upcoming royal Wedding of William Mountbatten-Windsor, heir in waiting to the British throne has the UK media in a frenzy of vomit inducing worship and stomach churning sycophantic fawning. Even the US media is pouring over the royals to such an extent that commentators have pointed out that had the modern day corporate media covered the Revolutionary War, it would have firmly supported the British.

The US fought a bloody war of independence against British control of its government and economy, yet the American media has fast become fascinated with an institution that represents everything America is not. This despite the fact that in a recent poll only 6% of Americans said they were at all interested in the event.

Two billion people are estimated to watch this weekend’s royal wedding. Despite the three war fronts, radioactive meltdown in Japan, the evolving 2012 presidential field and any number of other stories, the media’s collective lens will be turned exclusively on a snobbish pompous ceremony that is costing already extremely strained British taxpayers tens of billions to stage.

  • During my cousin’s wedding, the significant of other people was that my cousin’s fiance proposed to my cousin in the middle of public market. He sat on his knees and said, “will you marry me?” She accepted and he put the ring on her hand and she cried. Everyone cheered and congratulated.

At the wedding, the answer of “I do”, is one the gracious moments in a wedding to me.

  • He really never did. LOL I over heard a conversation with his mother on the phone (she lived in Mexico) and they were discussing invitations and arrangements about a wedding. I asked him “Who’s getting married and are we the godparents of something?” and he said ” It’s OUR wedding we are planning.” I about passed out! LOL We had discussed, after dating then living together for the last year, to see where this relationship was going because I was ready to begin a family at that time in my life (I was 26 at the time). We discussed the positive and the negatives of the decision and never really came to a definitive answer that day. We had discussed giving it another 6 months to make sure we were both ready for that type of commitment, and two months later that is when I had over heard him on the phone with his mother. LOL Needless to say, 15 yrs later, we are still together and two beautiful kids. May not have been the most romantic “proposal” but it has been a wonderful beginning to a great journey!

  • My dream proposal:
My soul mate, -who unfortunately hasn’t come along yet :'( – when he proposes, would make the proposal youthful as well as romantic. He would take me to a park with swings -strong ones that can hold a young adult’s weight πŸ™‚ – and offer to push me on them. Then he’d ask me to close my eyes until tells me to open them. Then, he’d come around to the front of my swing -far enough away so i wouldn’t accidentally kick him πŸ™‚ -, and tell me to open my eyes. When I do, he’d be kneeling there opening a jewelry box and say, “I love you more than life itself, Amber. Will you marry me?” The ring doesn’t even need to be expensive, as long as it doesn’t, you know, come from a cereal box or something. πŸ™‚

  • My husband proposed at my 30th birthday party. He knew my birthday had not been one of my favorite ‘holidays’ and felt the need to make it important. The two of us and several of our closest friends were at a local popular bar with one of our favorite cover bands on stage. The song “Jesse’s Girl” was the chosen cover song and my then boyfriend pulled me on the dance floor, though I tried to decline his offer to dance. Our friends gathered on the dance floor as he asked me how much I loved him to which I replied, “A lot”. He wanted to know, “How much?” and I responded, “More than words”. It was at this time the band stopped and called for my boyfriend onstage where he said he only needed on word, dropped to his knee, presented the ring and asked me to marry him. πŸ™‚ Definitely a surprise and such a neat experience.

  • It was Christmas morning and I opened up the gift he had under the tree for me…perfume. Then he says “I have another small gift for you but before I give it to you I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate everything you do, you attentive and loving and you do so much. You make my life complete. With that being said “Will You Marry Me?” and he opened up the ring box and it had a key ring in it, lol and he chuckled and said “Do you like your ring?” and I said “I’ll marry you even if that really is my ring!” and he said “Just kidding”…then he walks over to the Christmas tree and grabs one of the ornaments and inside the ornament was a piece of paper that said “Will You Marry Me?” and my ring was inside the ornament. It was THE BEST proposal EVER. He is just amazing <3

  • Well, my significant other is an alpaca. He proposed to me on a warm, slighty sticky Wednesday afternoon in the middle of a forest filled with vicious, rabies-infested porcupines. He propsed by smacking me with three large sticks. He then proceeded to throw a water balloon filled with turtle urine at me and scream “MARRY MEH BIZYOTCH.” He gave me a ring made out of Voldemort’s pubic hair. I glady said yes, as it was the nicest thing that anyone had ever done for me. The porcupines then chased me and my dear Alpaca through the woods. They bit us and we got rabies! It was the greatest day of my life! It was so romantic.

  • I actually haven’t proposed yet, nor did I find the significant other .. but I have a good idea of how I want to go about it.. of course this will cost a lot of money and preparation but I’m willing to go about it.

Since I live in NJ, I want to do it in Time Square. The evening will be to go out on a dinner and than a stroll around time Square, and propose in the center of it, where all the Television advertisements are held.

I will have them record us, with a mic on me to record what I say to her and propose with a heart warming speech, and when she says yes (hopefully >.<) they will play it on the television ads and fireworks go off saying congratulations, with all her friends and my friends rushing out congratulations us (they will be well hidden)

Yes, that is my fantasy proposal. It might or may not go like that but surely I will make it memorable.

  • Actually we met on a social networking website, we exchanged our phone numbers and photos and after that we starting conversation over the phone. After 2 months of conversation he proposed me over the phone, i said yes and we both cried happily. Then after 3 months we meet each other and he again formally proposed me. He gave me a big Bouquet of red roses, lots of chocolates, a book (containing love quotes) and the SHAKHA’ (Bangles from conch shell) and he asked me “Will you marry me” and told me the traditional value of Shakha, he said once i wore them i cant deny and cant step back because only married lady can wear Shakha in Weat Bengal. I accepted those Shakhas and just said “please help me wear them”, he smiled and we both have tears in our eyes, those were the tears of joy and ultimate happiness. Our Love story might be strange to some but this is the truth. Today we have completed the two years of our happy married life.

  • i want to propose to my love one when we are star gazing on the top of a hill preferably in one of the cities in Europe. i would stand beside the glowing moon, with her looking in the sky, i would take out the sparkling ring and i would lift it up within her view, and then i will say, ” look at that sparkling star ” (which is the ring) , and then i will kneel down with the ring and say ” I love you and i want to spend my entire life with you.”

  • I haven’t proposed yet cause I’m just 16 and no boyfriend… but if someone were supposed to propose to me, I would just like like him to love me and I tried to love him as well as him. it’s not too important how to propose to me… every girl and boy wishes to have a nice spouse and someone he/she could rely all the time. if someone propose to you in a very romantic and excellent way but after you live with her/him for some time and you figure out he/she is not the one you always liked to live with… what importance the way of proposing to you have?!
at last I wish every one find their true love and (like the fairytales!!!) live happily ever after πŸ˜€

  • My husband know that I love louis vuitton very much so for my 19th birthday he took me to green hills mall in nashville to the louis vuitton store. there he told me that he had a scavenger hunt lined up and that I had a certain amount of time to find all the clues printed into some louis vuitton stationary. I was thinking the only prize at the end was that if I found all of the clues I could pick out a bag but in the last bag, when I looked inside, there was an engagement ring. he proposed in front of the entire store and everybody had champaign(except me, I was only 19).

  • My boyfriend and I were about to sit down to Christmas dinner last year and we went outside on the porch of the house I grew up in, where so many things have happened in my life (good and bad), and we are sitting there talking. At one point we stand up and we’re hugging and he’s telling me that he doesn’t know what he would do without me and all that other sappy stuff (lol). So we hug, and when he breaks away from the hug he instantly drops to his knee and says “Baby, will you marry me?” I started crying before his knee even touched the step. I was so choked up I could only nod my head yes. Best day of my life, hopefully next to my wedding day, which is still undecided at this point πŸ™‚

  • I’m not engaged or married; but I wanted to share how my dad proposed.
He came home and asked my now step sister & I what our thoughts were, we both said we would love to be a family and help him propose. My dad had a large box in our garage, put some newspaper on the bottom crunched up, then a truck hitch on top, with a sign that said “check yes or no” my dad is quite a country guy so he got the “check yes or no” from a country song, and he thought the truck hitch would be funny as in “wanna get hitched.?” finally he put the ring at the bottom to make sure it would not be crushed. My step mom was pretty pissed thinking that he bought her a truck hitch, once she got to the bottom she was very happy. πŸ™‚ The other story lol, my mom and her then boyfriend took us camping, we all woke up and could smell Ben was making us breakfast, he came in with a cup full of my moms favorite candy banana runts, he said once you eat them you can get your suprise, got to the bottom of the cup and found a 3 carat diamond ring, she said yes (:

My dad proposed in a kinda cute way & so did my moms fiancee.

  • I’ve been in love since i was 8 years old, when my boyfriend proposes I just want it to be special and a really good heart warming memory to look back on.

I could dream of so many ways to be proposed to.

We both love art, and if he took me someplace in the middle of the night under a full moon with paper and pencils, pens, markers,ect.. just to draw silly things and hangout, and wrote “will you marry me” and put a ring on the paper and set it down beside me while we were laying down on the grass, I would love that.

I know that probably sounds strange, but the way i pictured it happening made me smile.
    (:

any other way, I would just want it to happen somewhere beautiful and romantic.

Remember, be happy with whatever way he proposes.. because what really matters is the love of your life is asking you to be the one, forever. πŸ˜€ <3

  • My boyfriend and I we walking over an old wooden covered bridge crossing a river. He has put me through hell the week before, confusing me, pissing me off, and I don’t remember what else other than the fact that I was PMSing. About half way over the the bridge, I saw a hole. I decided to spit through the hole and record the time it took to hit the water. I did this to figure out how far the bridge was from the water. As I was figuring this out, counting on my fingers and looking up trying to figure out the math in my head, we came to the end of the bridge, We turned the corner after the bridge like we always do to climb our way under the bridge and to the river, when I see my future husband on one knee. I looked at him, I remember I was really ticked off at this point because he had been unusually annoying the week prior. He asked me if I would marry him, I reacted by yelling at him, stomping on the ground, I hit him a couple times on the arm and was balling my eyes out. I said yes and he put the ring on my finger.

We were married 8 months later and have been married for nearly 2 years now. He has been an amazing husband to me, and he tells me I’m amazing too (though I think he’s lying). It couldn’t have been a better proposal, It was surprising, funny, amazing, emotional, and The most amazing person I’ve ever met wanted to marry me too.

  • I am still waiting for my husband to propose. He never did do it officially. He had picked out the ring and was just waiting for the jeweler to call to say it was ready. The jeweler not being to smart left a message on our answering machine stating it was ready and my husband and I came in from Christmas shopping he played the message. I was so ecstatic I insisted we go right then and there and get it. He put it on my finger but he never actually said the words so technically I am still waiting for that big proposal he says he had planned.

  • I heard a story about how one of my professors proposed.

To make a long story short:

It was her birthday. He started the day off by sending her the flowers that grew wild in her hometown. He wanted to bring her dinner. Her favorite: oysters. He arrives later than usual with no oysters. They have some conversation and then he pulls out a ring. Turns out, he went out into their backyard and chopped down a cherry tree and made her a ring. He explains that the ring he bought her wasnt going to come in in time for the proposal so he made her one. the one he made her fit better than the one he bought. She said yes.

    True Story.

  • I actually proposed to my future husband. Considering I’m the more masculine man in our relationship. I brought him to his childhood home in the country where we spent a few days together. Then, one day the radio turned to “Kissing You” from Romeo and Juliet which I thought was perfect…
    It was adorable…
Theodore commented that the song was beautiful…

I said we should play it at the wedding.

He started to say “What wedding?” but I slipped the ring into my mouth and kissed him. So that when he pulled away, he had the ring… He had NO IDEA what was in his mouth, it was adorable. But when he found out he was SO HAPPY

  • We were walking thorough the shopping centre one saturday afternoon. I was in a world of my own when I realised I was being spoken to. I turn and said pardon, I didn’t hear what you were saying. When he dropped on down onto one knee and said, ” I just asked the most important question of my life and you didn’t hear, Will you be my wife? ” I said yes and then couldn’t get him to stand up quick enough as every one was looking at us and then they started to clap. We went into the jewellers and chose a ring. We married 3 months later. This August we will be celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary.

  • My man took me out to a very nice dinner and then the symphony. I imagined the proposal was coming, since it was our one year anniversary & he’s very traditional, so I expected it somewhere in the city after the symphony. But we got on the highway & drove 45 minutes back to our town, him telling me he rented the same movie that we watched on our first date, so we could watch it that night again.

When we got near his place, he drove right past it, and instead drove us to a beautiful hillside park with a duck pond where we’d taken walks. It was a cold winter night, and he’d had friends secretly line the stairway up the hillside with candles, and then rose petals up to the center landing. He walked me up the lit stairwell, then at the center landing got down on one knee and proposed.

I found out later that it was the exact same spot where his dad proposed to his mom, 30-some years ago. We’ve been married 7 years now (and have two kids)!

  • After my husband and I were together over 3 years, he proposed. We were out in California at one of my favorite places growing up (Glamis, the Imperial Sand Dunes) camping with my family. He apparently had asked my dad for my hand the day before. It was new years eve approx 2 hours to new years, and it was just the two of us sitting by the campfire. He asked me if I had thought about a new years resolution, I replied no. He stated that his new years resolution was for me to not be his girlfriend anymore. I was struck with a moment of panic before noticing him getting on one knee and fumbling in his pocket. He then pulled out the ring and asked me to be his wife. I first said “No, you smell”… then told him yes. Then a drunk from another camp wandered up (stumbling) and said “Am I interrupting something?”, lol. Then my husband burnt his leg hair on the campfire. It was romantically funny.

  • My fiance and I have made it a habit to play Hangman on each others Facebook page when we are bored. So, one night we were out to dinner, and he pulled out a pen to play while we were waiting for the check (we were eating at Amerigo’s, which has paper tablecloths). So… he spells out a few words, ——- –?! … it took me a few seconds, as you can see that is more letters than just “MARRY ME?!”. So I am sitting there trying to figure out, because I had guess M–ARRY ME?! … I was pretty sure I had it, but was confused by the other letters. So I look up from the table and he is down on one knee, and the entire restaurant in watching. I was in shock! It was wonderful, and so personal as we had been playing Hangman back and forth for a year. 19 days til we are married πŸ™‚

  • My husband and I met in 1998. He is an American but has lived in Sweden most of his life. He was living in Sweden but came to the states to meet his family. We met through my daughter in law who is my husbands niece. He went back to Sweden in 20. One night we were talking on the phone and over the phone, oceans apart he asked me to marry him. I said yes because not only did we love each other we knew we were soul mates for the rest of our lives. So we decided that we would marry here in the states then live in Sweden. The process of me being able to move there started in 22. I had to ask permission to live there. So the paper work began and 2 years later we were married. We lived in Sweden for 5 years then my mother became ill so we are back here in the states taking care of my mother. We have been married for 7 wonderful years.
