I’ve been directed to websites that talk about what you need to make an auto mated home, but are there any manuals or tutorials out there on how to do it? Those sites mentioned give me some land marks but i’m not sure which roads connect them! The idea is that while my door and window alarms are deactivated, if an intruder entered my home, I want to be able to yell to my computer through an array of microphones to sound the alarm or call the police.

That can be done for sure. And yes there are many home owners who are opting for automated home security system. Just make you are choosing the right product so that you get decent nice customer support (in case there are some difficulties you won’t be having many issues.)
