How good does a Server on MC have to be?

So me and my friend are going to rent a server from Minecraft server hosting, and I was wondering how much ram is needed for – people? http://mcprohosting.com/plans.php It says iron is best for FTB(which is what we were going to run on the server) but I have no idea if it means for a public or small private server.

  • This should run – easily:

    – CPU: .Gt -core

    – Gt RAM (But Gt+ and you don’t have to restart server / purge RAM os often)

    – Fast enough internet connection, outgoing bandwidth is more important. MB (kbps stream) is laggy, so MB+ ( kbps+) should work. And that is UPLOAD speed. The faster, the better.

    – Enough HDD space, I suggest more than GB, but that again depends on what plugins (if any) is used

Edit: upload speed doesn’t matter in LAN

  • Well there are a few things to consider.

First, – people aren’t actually that much people for a server.

Second, it also depends on your lag tolerance (the amount of lag you find acceptable) because this affects your multiplayer experience.

Third, the players computer and internet service provide.

Personally for people I play with GB RAM with not much trouble…

I would recommend the Grass Plan if got money to spare and want the ultimate experience 😛

But otherwise I would recommend the Dirt Plan 😛

  • I run an FTB server, and the mod is very resource intensive. My hardware was good for around people in vanilla but could barely handle in FTB once we had machines and chunkloaders going.

  • I can run a server for a few people on GB on my laptop, do a comericaly run server with bout GB will do you guys fine, maybe even GB

  • creating a minecraft server is exceedingly common, there are various tutorials. in case you elect for to apply your area, you elect for to open your port for minecraft (that’s usually ) and you elect for to apply port forwarding to apply your area call.
