I’d like to know what can be done to keep browers from being hijacked? Is there any reliable software that prevents browser hijacking?

The other answers make sense but what I did was go to my Internet options and change my start-up browser back to my Google Home-Page. This quick fix seems to be working , right now. This happens from time to time (when you re-install Windows, you get the Microsoft sites as default)…………Also when you install “free” software…., you have to see and read the agreement before installing…………………
Norton is the best. It tells which sites are safe and harmful, it also has a virus check before every download. It also prevents you from downloading harmful spyware, and blocks every spyware browser.
A good firewall should do it.
