im not sure in years on how long a processor can last, but with a decent fan and/or good temperature ranges, it should last over 7 years, i said 7 because i just sold a pc that used a intel celeron processor that was 7 years old and still working fine with just a stock fan, newer processors would probably last longer since they run cooler and more efficient/powerful so they dont need to work as hard in return drawing less heat. i just built a pc for my friend who wants a really really basic pc for web use and office work, its using a pentium 4 630 processor with a fluid dynamic bearing type fan with operating temperatures so far of around 38c – 46c in 80 degrees F room temperatures, should last many years if kept in good temperatures like these, the fluid dynamic fan is said to work to about 1,0 hours, so with 24/7 usage, that equates to 11.4 years which is long. of course cheap components might need replacing sooner like a cheap psu. also it would be nice to replace the cmos battery on the motherboard every 5 years or so.
if you want a long lasting pc, you will want high quality parts for almost everything, dont get a mechanical hard drive on a pc that costs over 10 dollars built, just not practical.
Keep up for as long as it can handle software being used
Last *** long as it will
