How many teeth should a 6, almost 7, year old have?

I have a set of twins that will be turning 7 in a little over a month and one of them has 20 teeth (10 on top and 10 on bottom), while the other has 24 (12 on top and 12 on bottom). Neither one of my kids have lost a tooth yet. I’m just curious why the difference and what’s normal?

  • They are both completely normal… one twin has their 6 year molars…. the other doesn’t…No biggie many children tend to do things at their own rate dont always follow the books…. my daughter did not get her first tooth until she was 14 months old whereas most babies cut teeth at 4-5 months….also my son lost 2 teeth at 7 years old and then completely stopped until he was 11 yrs old and in the past year hes lost all of his baby teeth he’s nearly 12 now…that’s 22 teeth in less than 12 months!
