It is well known that a 15-20 percent tip is expected for waiters. You should tip a hair stylist 5-10 bucks depending on the service in my opinion. But how much do you tip the pizza man? There is no said expectation. So does anyone know? Maybe someone who has worked in the industry could shed some light. Thx.

I guess the real question is how is the delivery guy paid? I mean here, you get reg min wage, plus mileage. Why am I tipping someone who is already getting paid to do their job? Correct me if I am wrong, but I tip the waiter because I am the one paying their salary. Thats not the case with the delivery service here. So, if they get it to me quick and without having to call to ask for directions, I might throw in an extra 5, but…
Same with hair. I know some places rent booths, but the place I usually go to employees the workers, and they are getting regular wages.
I also find the suggestion that I tip the trash guy, someone who makes more money than I do per his salary that is public record, ridiculous.
Now, the waiter who is only making 2 bucks an hour? I tip anywhere between 20-50 depending on quality of service… When I do tip, I am generous with it, but its not like I am rich… why would I give people money who are already getting paid to do their job??
I never worked in the industry but my tips is as follows:
Delivery Guys – $5-$10
Hair Salon – $10
Waiters – 20%
Cabs – 20%
Valet – $10-$20
I prefer tipping my delivery man 3 to 7 dollars. I think that is very reasonable. I do feel a little guilty though when I don’ tip them though.
