How to calculate for power (watts)? and current (ampere)?

How to calculate for power (watts)? and current (ampere)? Using only Voltage = 220 and no. of lighting outlets = 10 as the given. Please help!

  • If you add power up of all 10 lamps, this will give you the total power, roughly, as it depends on the type of lamp, incandescent, fluorescent etc.

    ie. if you have 10 x 60 watt lamps, this = 6 watt.

    Then again roughly, Amps will be Watts divided by Voltage.

  • Good quality ceramic type lamp holder can support 6W max.

    Therefore, total is 60W.

    Total current is 27.2A

    cheap type plastic lamp holder only can support 150W max.

    Total is 15W.

    Current is 7A.
