How to develop a British accent?

I’m sick of my Northwest American accent. How could I go about developing a British one? I spend time with people with these accents a lot so even just a little bit would help.

  • Move to the U.K. for a few years. An accent will happen naturally.

  • Well, thing is, you can’t get rid of your American accent. It will always sort of be your home/base accent. Using a English accent would only be an alteration of that base accent. But after a while, maybe you will get used to it. Try going to speech therapy and working on it. A lot of people with speech/accept problems go to speech therapy and gradually, over time it starts to become pretty natural. So I would suggest that. 🙂

  • Spending time with people with english accents will further your own. If you ask some close friends or family to fake an accent around you, this can also help. If you continually talk to yourself and others with this accent, it will become natural. I hope this helps!
