  • Bicycles (the REAL ones) also come in various frame sizes. It all depends on what type or style of bike you want/need. The great thing about bicycle shops is – you can TRY B4 you BUY! They encourage you to take them out for a test ride.

Consult this link… http://www.evanscycles.com/help/bike-sizing But as it states, “This guide gives our customers general advice on choosing the right sized bike. It is a guide only and we always recommend visiting one of our stores.”

TRY B4 you BUY! Go to a bicycle shop. The salesperson will help you choose the correct frame size.

  • First, CONGRATULATIONS! Cycling is a great sport and a great way to meet people and enjoy time outdoors.

Assuming that you’ve already decided what type of cycling you want to do and what skill level you are at and the price range you want to invest (Off-road, road, cruiser, racing; entry level, novice or enthusiast) the first thing you need to do is visit reputable bike shops in your area. Talk with the technicians, tell them what your goal is in riding (pleasure, fitness, racing) and price range. They will measure you and suggest bikes for you to test out. Once you’ve chosen the bike you want, the shop should “fit” the bike to you (seat height, handle bar height and angle) if they don’t offer to fit you ask them to. If they don’t do that then I would suggest going to another bike shop. Also, please get a good fitting helmet to protect your noggin. No one expects to fall but accidents happen.

    As an example, I am 6’2″ with a 35″ inseam, I ride a 59cm road racing bike but on a mountain bike I ride a 50cm frame.

There are a lot of variables but don’t get discouraged. A properly fitted bike is a joy to ride and you will ride safer and more comfortably.

    Good Luck!

Source(s): 50 years riding bikes but only 10 riding a properly fitted bike. It does make a difference!
