  • Please, please NO STORE BOUGHT CARDS for this or any other occasion. Take the 30 minutes or so that it would take you to go to the store, look for the card, sign and address and mail it, and WRITE a letter expressing to him how happy you are for him [and any other family members] about his adoption. Your grandson will treasure a letter a whole lot more than a card.

Hallmark says it best… but you say it even better.

Source(s): I throw away all store bought cards that only have a couple of words and a signature. [And as an adoptee I wish I had a letter like this.]10

  • Just type “adoption” and “cards” in a search engine and you’ll find that there are a lot available. It’s a specialty area but there’s a lot of interest.

  • Make a card with a first picture of the two of you together. Every kid loves knowing and being reassured that they are loved. Sounds like he has a place in your heart that nobody else can fill!

  • Halmark makes ones for this occasion. I got one just the other day for my little guy that was just adopted.
