I didn't ovulate. Could I be pregnant?

My husband and I are trying to conceive. We are using the Shettles method to try for a baby girl. We had sex everyday from the last day of my period up until 3 days before I should have ovulated. I always ovulate on time. I can tell every time I ovulate because I have the “gooey” discharge. I should have ovulated about 5 days ago. I did not ovulate. Does that mean I could be pregnant since my egg did not drop?

  • i love it how people “KNOW” when they ovulate. You could be wrong. That discharge could be something totally different. Take a test if you missed ovulation, you’d be 6 weeks and a test would be accurate

  • Ovulation means that the egg has moved from the ovary into the uterus. Unless there is an egg in the uterus, there is no way for it to be fertilized.

The one exception to that would be an ectopic pregnancy, where the fertilization occurs in the fallopian tube between the ovary and the uterus. That is usually due to a defect in the tube, and results in the death of the embryo because there is no nourishment for it there, and it is tremendously painful for the mother.

The only way for you to be pregnant is if the egg did drop, and it was fertilized by sperm.

  • Discharge can change from cycle to cycle, so just because you didn’t recognize it this month, doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t ovulate. I have months where it is definitely less EWCM than others. Do you chart your temps or ever try using OPK’s? If you’re really TTC’ing hard… I would suggest using more methods than just noticing your CM.

    Best wishes!

PS – And no..if you aren’t ovulating, you won’t get pregnant.

  • Hun, you have to ovulate in order to get pregnant. its’ not possible at all to conceive without the egg.

  • When you’re being intimate everyday of course it’s a chance you’re with child :-), but that does require that you DID ovulate.

Why don’t you get a home preganancy test or visit a clinic for a test?

  • If you did not ovulate, you could not have gotten pregnant.

  • prolly not
