It is a semi automatic that hold a total of 3, 2 3/4″ shells. It belonged to my Granddad and he gave it to me for Christmas in 1975. The letters on the barrel are MOD and then right next to the receiver has NEKL.

Remington does not use serial numbers for date of manufacture. They use date codes stamped on the barrel. Look here
Go to Remington’s official website to get their contact information. You can email them and include the serial number of the shotgun which they can use to give you the year of manufacture. I did the same thing with one of my model 8 rifles and they were able to date it back to 1910.
