Table sugar is known as Sucrose, however, if you’re looking for the chemical composition of it, I’d suggest looking at the following site:
http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vchembook/546sucrose….
Source(s): Googled it.
sugar comes in many forms.
Glucose C6H12O6
Fructose C6H1206 (same as Glucose)
Sucrose C12H22O11
Galactose C6H12O6 (same as Glucose & Fructose)
some have the same formula, however, they are composed of different structures.
Sucrose (common table sugar or cane sugar) is C12H22O11. The structure is shown on site one below:
Glucose (or dextrose, but chemically 6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-2,3,4,5-tetrol) is C6H12O6.
Fructose (or levulose but also called fruit sugar) is also C6H12O6 but it’s structure is different than glucose.
