The educational requirements for HVAC technician vary from state to state, and you don’t mention your state, so giving advice is difficult.
You might want to contact the national ACCA office and ask how you would go about pursuing a career as an HVAC tech in your state. Whatever the academic requirements, on-the-training is absolutely necessary to learn applications of that knowledge.
Generally, after fulfilling the educational requirements and OJT / supervision hours, you are eligible to apply to take the state exam to become a licensed AC contractor.
