I’m going with the theme that nuclear weapons actually deter violence. No nuclear nation has ever been invaded. Well, if everyone above a certain age, both men and women, carried pistols, would it actually make people safer?

That’s a mindful observation, but these nations have been already invaded by both sides, at least in the form of espionage. Plus, some nations, like North Korea, have hinted/threatened at nuclear war (although their power is relatively inferior compared to all other nations with a military).
Giving everybody a gun is like saying, “because two bucks have a giant rack, they won’t be territorial.” As unintentially blue collar and apples to oranges esque that sounds, how exactly would evening the playing field between both good and bad people, make people stop thinking “I am going to rape and/or assault this person?”
If anything, crime rates and general violence would stay the same because of the evened field. People forget that violence, rape, drugs, robberies, etc, all existed longer before guns were even relevant; the thoughts and action potential always existed. The mind of people, given that everybody has some sort of affliction or anxiety today, should be the focus of reparation. Not arming them with some extra ‘thing’ requiring more knowledge, anxiety, acceptance, disputes, worries, paperwork, money, and such.

No, it will increase and so will more gun crime and deaths. They will have to bring back capital punishment for serious crimes.
I know if I had a gun, I wouldn’t use it on people unless I felt threatened or my family or friends were threatened. Other people aren’t like that. If they had a gun they would use it and not care who they kill. Imagine a kid with a gun, being powerless to protect yourself, your life in the hands of a kid. An adult knows what a gun can do, but a kid has little understanding.
There would be more robberies, rapes, and violent crimes because they will acquire a weapons more easily.
no cause people would compete with that they lack common sense they wouldnt know when to use it and when not to , they do not have the capacity to make good decisions thats why people should not have access to many things because they will use whatever they have to hurt others, and no someone will push that button one day it just not time yet but many people have them anyway guns dont kill people its the asshole with his finger on the trigger that dose it

I suspect some people are desperate enough to rob a store, but don’t do it because they don’t have a gun
As to rapes…the vast majority of them is done at home, by someone the victim knows, trusts or even is dependent upon
I’ve been saying this for ages now….letting civilians carry guns WILL make us safer. Taking them away from us will NOT make us safter. At least with a pistol in my purse I have a chance to defend myself against criminals who try to shoot me!
