if my mom moves am i able to stay across the country with other family? legally?

im 15 years old and my mom, who has full custody over me, is planning on moving across the country to orlando, florida. I live in chicago right now and i have things going great for me! friends, family, school, activities!

im in my sophomore year of high school and the first quarter just passed. she is planning on moving with my step dad and my little brother and sister. in the middle of the school year…

now my real dad lives in chicago and my grandmother lives here also. they have told me that if i wanted to i could stay here and live with either of them. they would pay for everything and keep me in school. that’s all i want to stay and finish school. but my mom insists that i drop everything and move! i would rather anything than that!!

so i wanna know is there any legal way that i can stay in chicago without emancipating.

my father pays child support so does he have rights over me? but no he legally has no custody over me. but if there anything that he can do to keep me here??

  • You would have to discuss it with the courts and your mother.
