If you saw a young fan of wwe that believes it would you tell them about kayfabe?..more inside?

Let’s say a young wrestling fan around the age I mentioned, believes what he or she sees on the screen, and seems to be enjoying every second of what they’re watching…would you tell them that wrestling is a work, and about kayfabe, or let them enjoy what they’re watching and let them learn about wrestling being a work later on?

For example, this fan believes Cena is the best wrestler in the world, because he’s tough, and can always comeback from adversity….would you break it to that young fan that it’s a work, and not necessarily real what he thinks about Cena?

  • I don’t believe in mollycoddling children. I also don’t believe in shattering their illusions for no positive reason.

I generally talk to people at their level. And I LISTEN to them at their level. If, for example, a child believes Cena is the “best in the world” because “he’s tough and can always comeback from adversity”, that child is seeing Cena as a “hero”, a “good guy”, not as the most proficient technical wrestler to ever climb into a ring.

I would answer the child’s questions honestly but I wouldn’t destroy his/her enjoyment of wrestling by just blurting “wrestling is fake” or pushing information onto him/her that wasn’t asked for.

We don’t stroll by them and remark that “SpongeBob is fake”, why should we do that for any other form of entertainment? I would let them enjoy the wrestling show at their level of understanding, and answer any questions they may have honestly.

  • No I wouldn’t because its just going to ruin it for them like now i read spoiler sites instead getting a surprise and i hate it and i love watching my Little brother say john cena is the best or battista is going to tap because i remember saying that about hulk hogan or sting when i was little i like it because it has there loyalness but if they wanted to make a back yard fed i will tell theme instead go to wrestling school or learn from a pro because who wants to see them get hit with weed whacers

  • No because thats like taking their view of innocence of the world away from them. Just like the guy said above this it likes telling them santa clause isn’t real. I remember when i was a kid watching Kane vs Undertaker or when Triple was kayfabe attacked by Rattle Snake because of Stone Cold and the joy watching them cause i believe it, why would you want to take that away from someone

  • First of all, you didn’t mention an age. If he’s like 7, let him believe. If he’s 11, just mention that things aren’t always as they appear, then you can introduce the concept of kayfabe. If he’s older than that, blow him out of the water!

  • If a young fan came around me I would smack him, sit him in his chair, duct tape his eyes open, and force him to watch real entertainment: the WWF from 1996-23

  • nah, i figured it out when i got older. let them enjoy it while it lasts, like Santa Claus.

  • No. Let them believe
