  • For jazz, you can dance in socks, but it would be better to get some real jazz shoes. You can order these online (inexpensively on discountdancesupply.com). Wear tight pants (leggings are great) and tank tops/flowing shirts. Jazz is very technical, but you can have a little more fun with the clothing. Absolutely NEVER wear jeans or any clothes that restrict your movement. Wear your hair so it’s out of your face. And you should also bring a bag with you with extra clothes, such as sweatpants, an extra shirt, and some different socks).

For ballet, you should follow exactly what your studio suggests. Studios vary on how strict they are, though. For your first class, I suggest wearing regular pink ballet shoes and a black leotard. These are the basics for most ballet classes. However, wear some tight dance shorts and a shirt over the leotard. This way, you won’t feel out of place if other students are dressed more casually. Again, always keep your hair out of you face.

  • For jazz, you probably want to get some jazz shoes (go to a local dancestore–online is cheaper, but you can’t get them fitted), although socks is fine if that is what most people at the studio wear. You should wear leggings, yoga pants, or shorts, and a comfortable t-shirt or cami on top. You don’t want to wear anything that will restrict movement or that you will be adjusting all through class.

For ballet, a black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes is appropriate. You might want to bring sweatpants, a cami or other clothes you can layer on in case everyone else is wearing more than that.

For jazz you can your put your hair in a pony tail or braid–anything that will keep in out of your face. For ballet, a bun is more appropriate, but if you have short hair, a pony tail is okay 😉

  • Eat all you want because you are still growing and needs carbs and such….On the otherhand you need: CARDIO,CARDIO,CARDIO .. .. Get on a treadmill for hour a day everyday no exceptions and run, run, run, run, The object is getting to your targeted heart rate about beats per minute…..just like dance revolution…..You dont need a treadmill if you are diciplined enough to run without one at a good pace and for the full hour everyday getting the targeted heart rate up there! Try this for month staright and then look at your results, Then you can thank me! Just be honest with yourself!
