Is it bad to remove the data files for a program instead of uninstalling?

About a year ago, I installed a illegitimate copy of a game because I had already purchased it for X-Box and was just interested in the mods. Since I haven’t used it since, I decided to get rid of the GB game, but there was no uninstaller. The game isn’t listed under the uninstall program section of the control panel. I thought about just deleting the folder, but I wasn’t sure if this was alright since I know that installers and uninstallers usually access parts of the computer that are not easily accessible under normal circumstances. (ex: the registry). I am mainly focused on freeing up space, but I was just wondering if deleting the folder the game was installed to may cause any problems on my computer.

Thanks in advance

  • If you just remove the whole game folder instead of unninstaling you would be left with alot of invalid shortcuts and junk files. But since you have no choise it is the only way. I recommend you download ccleaner to find those junk files and keep you pc running smoothly.

  • Nah, therez a chace the game didnt even install. provided you were launching it from that folder you deleted.
