  • They should be fine. There’s a test where good eggs should sink in a bowl of water and bad eggs will float.

  • Define “gone off”.

You mean past the best before date? That just means the shop doesn’t think they’ll be pristenely fresh after that date. So they’ll be fine. If you mean the use by date, well, that’s the one you should technically pay more attention to, especially if you are planning to serve them in a restaurant or something. But two days probably won’t make that much difference even then.

Here’s how to tell for sure: Fill a jug of water and put the eggs in. If they sink, they’re fine, but if they float, they’ve gone off. If they sort of sit on their point on the bottom, then they’re just starting to go off and should be eaten soon assuming you don’t want to waste them. Eggs that are a bit older than fresh from the chicken are actually a bit better for certain uses because of how the protiens interact and what they’re like at different stages an egg goes through between the chicken and the bin.

  • yes cos eggs have days shelf life, shelf life is worked out at % of the actual good shelf life so in theory eggs should last for at least days. Keep them in the refrigerator and bring out a day before you cook to maximise quality when u eat

  • Golly,if they reek when cracked…NO!
