Is my kittens paw broken?

My kitten, Bella is around 8-9 months old. About an hour ago, bells started limping and she won’t put any pressure on her front left paw. She yelps when I touch it. My family doesn’t have the money to take her to a vet. Well only do that as a last resort. Us her paw broken. Can I treat it at home? Please help. She looks like she’s in do much pain.

  • She needs to go to the vet. Even though it may be expensive and you will want to look for other options, her paw needs to be set with a cast. Since she is so young, this is even more important because she is still growing and developing. If her paw really is broken or fractured and not set or supported correctly, this could cause her paw to become deformed and cause even more problems in the future that could rack up an even more expensive vet bill. It will be better in the long run just to be safe (and possibly save money) to take her to the vet. They will also give her pain killers so she won’t be as stressed and in pain.

Hope this helps and all goes well 🙂

  • You really should take her to a vet. Im sorry, but people like you with all these pets yet you are too broke to take care of them properly make me soo angry!!! I know vet bills are really expensive, i have lots of pets. However, i have the money that i could rush them to the vet at a moment’s notice if something was wrong. If you cant do that, you have no business to be owning a pet. Sorry, but its true. The best thing for people like you to do is to take your pets to a shelter or something so they can live in a happy home with proper vet care like they deserve. Sorry, i dont mean to be mean, hearing stuff like this just p***es me off really bad. Also, yeah, its paw may be broken or sprained or badly bruised. Either way, its something a VET should look at.

  • If you are unsure if it’s broken, as a “last resort”, take her to the vet. A broken paw is nothing to mess with, and if it is broken and not cared for properly it could cause long term damage. It sounds like a sprain, however, no one on this site could tell you what’s wrong because we can’t X-ray your kitty. Please take her to a vet and get a professional opinion. Don’t use popsicle sticks or duct tape.. If you thought your wrist was broken, you wouldn’t tape it up with duct tape and popsicle sticks, you would go to a Dr. That’s just silly and irresponsible.

  • No one here can tell you that it is or isn’t. Take her to the vet in the morning if she is still limping, it is the responsible thing to do. In the mean time try to keep her still as much as possible. If she will let you, check to make sure her paw doesn’t have anything stuck in it.

  • If the cat indeed broke her paw then she needs a vet. If you cannot afford vet care then you shouldn’t have a pet. There is no excuse for letting an animal suffer.

  • Call a veterinarian hotline for help on how to do it

A simple way to do it is to get 2 popsicle sticks and gauze and put the two sticks on the sides of the leg and wrap gauze or AT LEAST duct tape around the sticks. Help her sleep and not get too active. Bring the food and water too her and make sure she has to do minimum walking or energy.

  • A broken paw would be extremely painful and she would be constantly whimpering. I think it might be a sprain, but you should call a veterinary emergency hotline and they will tell you what to do.

  • No it can’t be treated at home take her to a vet as soon as you can, make sure she rests in the mean time
