It ever was a country, is not a country now and at the rate they are going, will not be a country for quite a long time.

What it is is an area of land. Like the Mojave Desert in the USA, the Sahara Desert in Africa, etc. It was given that name a long time ago but just because a hunk of land has a name does not mean there is a corresponding people entitled to the land. Do you see a “Mojave Liberation Front” or a “Saharaian Liberation Organization” demanding their land?

What we have in the Gaza is a bunch of Egyptians who were disowned by their own nation. In the West Bank you have a bunch of Jordanians disowned by Jordan. Having been disowned, they claim they are Palestinians and are demanding “their land.” Pretty stupid but we got the whole world buying into it.

Goes back to what Kennedy said, You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time.

  • The Gaza Strip was taken from Egypt by Israel in one of the wars. The West Bank is often called Palestine because the PA is there and that was won from Jordan in one of the wars. They are separate pieces of land. I dont know how they would integrate if Israel ever let Palestine become a sovereign country. Palestine is the name for all of the disputed and occupied territories. The name Palestine is recognized by international bodies but it is far from a sovereign country. It is occupied by Israel, so under those conditions it is not a free country.

VIZZBUX: Palestine was not granted statehood. It was given an upgrade from a non-member observer entity to non-member observer state and it took place in the General Assembly. It has a few advantages in that they can declare Palestinian heritage sites and it can charge Israel with crimes at the ICC.

Palestine is a term used to describe an area in the middle east.

Israel, Jordan, parts of Syria, Lebanon, and the Sinai are all part of Palestine

  • I recognize Palestine as a country, and that is enough.
