Is Slender Man Real or Fake?

I’ve been hearing a lot about this “Slender Man” and I was just wondering if all of this nonsense is over something fake or real. I also have been exploring a little more into it and I have experienced seeing photos of sightings. So i would like to know the details on if its real or not.

  • No,the slenderman is not real. You see the slender man was born within the ‘Something Awful’ forums in 29, when a thread was created to challenge members to create fake photo-shopped paranormal photographs. The idea however was not just to create these images, but to also filter them through the internet, in a bid to convince those who sought out such things, that the images created were authentic ‘real’ ghost/alien photographs.

Despite the Slender Man being a complete fabrication his legend has spread like wild-fire throughout the internet as a successful ‘Internet MEME’, a phrase used to describe a catchphrase or concept that spreads quickly from person to person via the internet, much like an esoteric inside joke, that evolves with time.

A YouTube sensation of sorts the ‘Marble Hornets Project’ is a series of video clips that were supposedly recorded by a teenager named ‘Alex’. The segments of video taken from Alex’s camcorder tapes follow him as he becomes increasingly concerned by the fact that ‘something’ sinister, is apparently stalking him.

Whilst Alex himself has mysteriously vanished, the video clips he left behind him become increasingly disturbing, as the Slender Man peers from distant corners. The Marble Hornets Project’ has greatly increased the range of the Slender Man Myths reach, with some unfamiliar with the legends origin taking it at face-value, and they in turn spread the legend’s grip further still.

  • He’s very fake.
    Origin of the Slender man:
On June 8th, 29, a “’paranormal pictures” photoshop contest was launched on the Something Awful (SA) Forums. The contest required participants to turn ordinary photographs into creepy-looking images through digital manipulation and then pass them on as authentic photographs on a number of paranormal forums. Something Awful users soon began sharing their faux-paranormal creations with layered images of ghosts and other anomalies, usually accompanied by a fabricated witness account to make them more convincing. On June 10th, SA user Victor Surge posted two black and white photographs of unnamed children with a short description of “Slender Man” as a mysterious creature who stalked children.
On June 11th, 29, Victor Surge continued to improve upon the myth by adding another picture and a fake doctor’s account. The following day, SA user LeechCode5posted a photograph of a burning building with a Slender Man back story. On June 14th, SA goon TrenchMaul reused the Slender Man character for his own story. The original thread, which still remains active today, extends for 46 pages as of June 2011.
    Precursors
The creation of “Slender Man” may have been also inspired by an ongoing series of amateur adventure games titled “Chzo Mythos”, published by Ben ‘Yahtzee’ Croshaw in 23. In the games, one of the main vilains is called “Cabadath” and is sometimes referred to as “Tall Man.Making his first in-game appearance in Trilby’s Notes, the character was portrayed in the third installment as a tall, thin man dressed in a long, black, high-collared coat with tails that reach to the floor and having a blank face. Throughout the adventures, the Tall Man can be seen stalking and trying to kill the main character.
Der Großmann is german for “The Great Man” and is often translated into creepypastas as The Tall Man.German folklore was first introduced to the mythos by TribeTwelve as a point of origin for the creature. It has been used in the Slender Man web series by TribeTwelve and many creepypastas. Other recurring names are Schwarzwald (“The Black forest”), an actual place in Germany where the creature is said to have first appeared, and Der Ritter (“The Knight”) based on several 16th century woodcuts by Hans Freckenberg that featured a strange figure duelling another man (shown below, left). On March 17th, 2011, Encyclopedia Slenderia published a post revealing that the original woodcut of Der Ritter did not show additional limbs (shown below, right).

Slender Man became a well-known mythical creature on the /x/ (paranormal) 4chan board. The earliest known mention of “Slender Man” on 4chan can be found in an archived thread dating back to June 24th, 29, though the conversation suggests that it had been mentioned prior. The image was coupled with hand-drawn illustrations and fanart.
Depending on the communities and vlogs/blogs, various nicknames and alternate names have been given to the creature or their interpretration of it:
    Marble Hornets Project:
On June 20th, 29, YouTuber “MarbleHornets” started hosting videos called “entries” which claimed to be taped segments retrieved by someone named “Jay” (or also “J”), and contained footage of a friend that had since disappeared. It would later become clear that the series was created by two film students, SomethingAwful users “KicksYouInHalf” (Joseph DeLage) and “Ce gars” (Troy Wagner), as part of an “Alternate Reality Game” centered around the Slender Man myth called the “Marble Hornets Project”. In this version, the creature is known as The Operator[44].
As of March 2012, there are more than 50 videos (divided into 3 seasons), in addition to the ones by YouTube user “totheark”, who is a recurring character within the story.

Many forums threads have been created for people to share their speculations and theories about the game on sites like Something Awful, Unfiction, BuzzFeed[21], and Reddit. A Marble Hornets wiki entry and a Twitter account (Jay’s) have been registered to keep track of everything.

These may have inspired the blog named “Just Another Fool”, which contains a story about a man whose brother has been placed into a mental hospital after he returned from Iraq, where he’s the only survivor of a team that supposedly met Slender Man.This has inspired other blog-based stories like “Seeking Truth”and “Dreams in Darkness”.
A radio interview has been done with Troy Wagner (director/Jay) and Joseph DeLage (Alex Kralie) in the beginning of August 2010 about the Marble Hornets Project. The interview, divided into 5 parts, is hosted on Troy’s YouTube channel “troyhasacamera”.
    Derivative Projects
Marble Hornets-inspired projects have appeared on YouTube since then, uploaded by YouTubers, the earliest and most notable being EverymanHYBRID and TribeTwelve.

Its fake.Victor Surge Creator of Slender Man:
” I was mostly influenced by H.P Lovecraft, Stephan King (specifically his short stories), the surreal imaginings of William S. Burroughs, and couple games of the survival horror genre; Silent Hill and Resident Evil. I feel the most direct influences were Zack Parsons’s “That Insidious Beast”, the Steven King short story “The Mist”, the SA tale regarding “The Rake”, reports of so-called shadow people, Mothman, and the Mad Gasser of Mattoon. I used these to formulate asomething whose motivations can barely be comprehended and causes general unease and terror in a general population.
The reaction was suprisingly good so I continued making pictures based on Slender Man”.

  • Nope he’s just a myth.

  • Answer hidden due to its low rating

You can rest easy. Whatever it is is not supernatural, or an alien from outer space. This is simply because there is nothing supernatural. No gods, angels, demons, ghosts, monsters (except the usual human monsters), and of course there is no evidence that there are any “space aliens”
