Is technical/vocational school better than community college?

If so why? Are schools like everest,Heald, itt tech actually worth the cost and do they provide you with a good enough education?

  • In general, community colleges are better than vocational schools.

Most vocational schools are not legit.
    Community colleges are cheaper.
Community colleges are recognized by employer, not vocational schools.
Vocational schools are expensive, and most of their credits are not transferable.

  • No!! Please *avoid* those private For-profit schools such as devry, ITT tech, heald, argosy, strayer, everest, capella, U of P, brown mackie, ashworth, keiser, ashford, kaplan, penn foster, excelsior, stratford career, aiu, sanford brown, pima medical and others. Their course credits usually do NOT transfer to other schools, even if the for-profit school is regionally accredited as opposed to only nationally accredited.

This consumer site has a lot of negative posts by former students of those for-profit schools, and please heed the students’ warnings: http://www.complaintsboard.com and can search.

Please do instead consider the more affordable (and usually more reputable) community college (or county vo-tech school for a trade) or state/public university as long as the program is accredited within the industry. (Just an fyi that “american public university” is a for-profit school.)
