Mossberg barrels and slug combos question?

I was looking at combo barrels offered on a deal. It says ’24” Turkey Barrel & 18-1/2″ Tactical Barrel.’ The 24 inch is threaded for different chokes and it comes with a turkey choke. I am unsure about the tactical barrel. Is that a Mossberg rifled barrel for slugs or is it simply a shorter barrel for maneuverability? The point being I want a slug/shotgun combo and was wondering if this is the case. Please drop some knowledge on me and/or give me some options for a good combo shotgun please.

The shorter barrel is for maneuverability, it comes with an “improved cylinder” choke and is suitable for shooting “rifled” slugs; it is NOT a rifled barrel; although I believe a rifled barrel IS available.

I’m not sure WHAT choke a “turkey barrel” would have. THAT sounds like PR hype to me.
Standard chokes are: cylinder, improved cylinder, modified, full, and sometimes, extra full.

Since the other barrel has removable chokes, buy either the “cylinder” or “improved cylinder” choke tubes and you can use rifled slugs in THAT barrel also.

My 5, bought many years ago, came with 18-1/2″ improved and 24″ modified, and I bought a 30″ full choke barrel from Mossberg; (note that it was NOT listed in dealer catalog and had to be ordered direct.)

i bought my 5 like that, the 18 1/2″ barrel just has one bead on it and is for home defense and i sometimes use it for rabbit if im really close. the other barrel has a turkey choke on it and you can unscrew it and put what ever choke you want on it, improved cylinder will work for nearly every ammo you want including slugs, dont shoot slugs with a turkey choke and the short barrel will shoot anything.

The ‘short’ barrel is an Improved Cylinder’ and can shoot slugs as well. If the price is right…2 barrels are better than one.
