It sounds like you have a bad input shaft bearing. It is the first bearing on the transmission shaft, right next where the clutch bearing is. To fix this you will need to remove transmission out of the car.
The noise did not happen until after your shock absorbers were replaced Rear or Front? I ask this because depending on what year how many miles what engine option transmission type I may be able to give you a better answer.

Sounds like you have missed putting a bush in or not tightened something up properly.
Broken shock mount.
