My daughter has one large red spot in her diaper area and it won't go away?

My daughter will be 2 in a month and she has this nearly dime-size red spot in the front of her diaper area. It has been there for days and diaper rash cream doesn’t seem to help it at all. When I wipe it, my daughter describes it as “oww!”.

Any idea what this spot could be and any OTC creams that could help it go away?

  • Go to the doctor and he/she will give you some Mupirocin cream. My daughter got it all the time, and diaper rash want help it. I highly doubt it as “yeast infection” she would be itchy and you would know it. It’s prob just a simple allergic reaction. Like here our weather is all the time changing from extremely hot to freezing cold and rainy.

  • boil or abscess, my daughter gets them occasionally and her doc said to use a warm compress with every diaper change (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO POP), and clean out the bath tub with a 1 part bleach 10 parts water, when it does pop start using A&D or neosporin, i found they work the best. Our girls around the same age!

  • Its be a boil or abscess i had the same on my bum i know tmi i thought it was a boil ended up being an abscess i would ask your GP too look at it i was in agony for weeks !

  • Sounds more like a bacteria infection that will need a prescription (My friends son got this alot)

  • Well it doesn’t sound like it’s from a spanking… it doesn’t seem like a regular rash. You need to take her to the doctor

  • have you tried neosporin? try a base of neosporin over the entire spot. the layer over it w/ vaseline or some sort of petroleum based ointment that is clear. coat it on thick and cover it with cornstarch based baby powder. if its bacteria neosporin will usually clear it up.

  • Let her run around naked (I know this could be messy) But maybe letting it get some air is just what it needs.

  • it could be a yeast infection take he to the doc’s to be sure.
