My friend worked in Australia for a short time, and she brought home some Australian wine. Does anyone know…

…the name of a white wine that is very dry and full bodied that is made in Australia that has a slightly higher than average alcohol content? It was a great wine, and I have lost contact with my friend. I love to have some for the holidays.

Update:

Thanks, but it was not Yellowtail. My fear is that it may have been only locally distributed. I have not found it on the net, but I am still trying! I am in the USA.

  • Hello Eagle Woman! You will find that any chablis or chardonnay or “classic dry white” from the Western Australia Margaret River region is a spectacular wine. Those guys in Western Australia are so self conscious about being so far away from the rest of the population of Australia that they do not distribute any mediocre wine east of the state’s borders. They would therefore be very unlikely to send any crap wine to the USA.

The first bottle you see with “WA Margaret River” plastered on it… grab it and I can pretty much guarantee that it will be a good one… having followed this fail safe method for around 10 years now I’ve never opened a crook one.

    Love Gazza…. woops… I mean.. Mango Man.

  • Corley is an Australian brand of wine. Just wanted to throw that name out there in case it rings a bell.

  • The Semillon grape tends to do quite well over there, here’s a helpful list.
