My rabbit won't poop in his cage?

My rabbit won’t poop if he’s in his cage. He also won’t eat or drink. His cage is clean and big. The only time he poops pees, eats or drink is if I let him out, he’ll even poop and pee in his spot that he’s litter trained but only the litterbox that’s outside of his cage. I’m getting worried because he was in his cage for 12 hours and didn’t go to the bathroom, but the second I let him out he did. What do I do?

Update:

Side note, he just started doing this. He was fine before its a new habit.

  • Its his home think of his cage like you would your room you don’t poop in your room do you … I would certainly think not lol. …. most rabbits prefer a litter box like you would have for a kitty. Some enjoy being walked on a harnest and leash like a puppy would. Rabbits tend to be every clean and quite ocd or habitual creatures. I suggest either harnest training him or box training …..

  • He doesn’t want to get his cage dirty. Rabbits are fastidiously clean so he’ll wait to go to the bathroom until he knows he won’t have to sit in it. This is a bit extreme, but as long as he’s going regularly it might just be a personality quirk. You shouldn’t keep your rabbit locked up – rabbits need a ton of space to run around in.

  • rabbits are very articulate creatures. they strive to keep their cages clean. you should find time every once in a while to clean his cage and grab him by the neck and shake…. for a sure break in the neck, twist his head to be sure there is no nerves getting to the brain

  • Less to clean up.
