Not able to concieve?

My husband and I have been having unprotected sex for a year now. We actively tried (tracking ovulation and timing sex) for about 4 months and then just decided if it happens it happens. Well now it has been a year that we have been having unprotected sex while trying to concieve and nothing has happened. I am a healthy 19 year old and my husband is 21. He does drink and smoke occasionly (not heavily at all) but other than that he is healthy also.

I was just wondering at what time should I see if something might be wrong? I was going to wait another year or so because we are fine waiting for a child for at least another year possibly more. But could something be wrong? Could one of us not be fertile? Shouldn’t we have concieved by now if we were both fertile? Just wondering. Thanks!

  • A year is not a long time, especially if you are not timing intercourse with your ovulation… You could be having sex and the wrong times and not know it. Since you are not in a hurry I wouldn’t stress about it, and just keep trying. You could see a doctor and get checked if you are worried about it, because stress can prevent pregnancy.

  • Yes, you should have conceived by now if you both are fertile. And considering your ages….,,, you guys should see a doctor to see what’s the problem.
