OMG is that true Gayle scored a 31 ball century leaving Afridi high and dry?

Afridi scored a 37 ball hundred on 1996 against us and I think Gayle rewrote the history by thrashing 31 balls ripper! I was just informed by a customer at my work place!

Is that a true story?

  • great inns…I switched on the TV as soon as I saw my whole news feed in FB is filled with Gayle storm comments !..despite HDBs claim I saw at least 10 posts from White British friends of mine so seems like they too are following IPL this year !

    However Afridi scored that against Sri Lankan National team in an international game..against the likes of Murali , Vaas and Sanath..All the pune warrior bowlers are virtually unknown and they are just state cricketers

  • According to www.espncricinfo.com it is not true. He got it in just 30 balls! Just looked at the scorecard and RCB got 263/5 in 20 overs! Gayle was 175 not out off just 66 deliveries. AB DeVilliers got out scoring 31 runs of 8 deliveries! http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premi…

    They pay Jadeja and Maxwell the million + salaries and are total dud players and yet Gayle who is always a great T20 player gets paid minimum salary and often misses out on the initial auction. What sort of whacko’s have these IPL franchises?!

Afridi scored 37 ball century at international level against world class bowlers like Murali,Chaminda Vass etc..there is no comparison btw these two centuries as Chris gayle scored it in domestic cricket…If domestic innings can break international records then Afridi’s record would have broken much earlier when Symonds scored a 34 ball century in 24(english county)

  • I think that it is a great acheivment but afridi scored it at international level yet gayle is great player

  • Record for any form of the game at any level.
    I saw (on TV) every run scored by the great Gayle-storm and the memory will certainly be there till eternity. Absolutely incredible 175 n.o. in a 20-20 game!!

  • Afridi scored in the onedays, and Gayle in a domestic cricket.
    Both things are separate.

    But Gayle’s hitting was more clean.

    It was great inning. Many cricketers have played against PCB but none could do that, even none was near. Thousands of cricketers have played domestic cricket till today but none could that. Gayle is best hitter as on today.
