Pixel dimensions for printer paper?

The input dpi of the printer is 12.

Update:

I need this for a project I’m doing on pixlr.com. So, the maximum it will do is 40×40.

  • This is a tricky one.

The general rule is that there are 72 pixels per inch (dots per inch) so in theory you can manipulate the size (width and height) of any image to fit paper sizes according to a division calculation (WIDTH / 72 and HEIGHT /72). If it won’t fit or is too large, keep dividing by 72 until it does.

You need to play around with this as reducing the image size *increases* resolution while enlarging images *reduces* resolution in terms of print quality.

If your paper is metric, then you have to do the extra conversion to cm or mm.

The rule of thumb is that there are 25mm per inch (as near as you can get) or 2.5cm per inch.

  • When creating a new record, comfortably use “inches” as the scale (from the drop down), and just create it using the identical dimensions as the paper (most commonly 8.5w x 11h). If you wish to see what it is in “pixels”, change the measurements to “pixels” after you set the size for inches. It will automatically alter.

  • Paper size is not measured in pixels.
