Router problem. wireless works but wired doesnt?

I have a netgear router connected to a cable model and the wireless works fine but when i connect it by wire to my ethernet it doesnt work. the wire is fine the port is fine it gives an ip when i do ipconfig but cant connect to the net

anyone know why

yes it plugged into the right port and yes its obtaining ip automatically

  • Is the Ethernet adapter (in the computer) set to automatically get an IP address? (Settings for the wireless adapter and the Ethernet adapter are independent.)

  • Do you have the wired computer plugged into the correct port? (If you plug a computer into the port that you’re supposed to plug the Internet into, it won’t work – I’ve made that mistake.)
