SATA GB/s different from GB/s?

I bought a hard drive from amazon that said it was a GB/s but when I got it it said it was only a GB/s.

I didn’t notice until after I installed my operating system and in order to return it I would need to pay to ship it back so would it really be worth it or should I just stick with the Gb/s? My motherboard supports gb/s.

Is the performance difference really that different? It’s a rpm with a mb cache.

Please let me know, thanks!

  • Only Solid State drives can make use of gb ports since they are really faster than any mechanical hard drive..

no rpm hard drive can utilise the benefit of sata gb completely..difference between sata gbs and gbs with a mechanical spinning drive is hardly noticeable. its ok for you to keep it

  • Seeing as the data rate actually coming off the disk revolving at rpm is around Mbits/sec I really don’t think it is going to make that much difference of buffer to pc transfer rate that you would notice in ordinary day usage

  • yea GB/s is normally Sata and its newer technology and yes it is faster than the GB/s

  • data transfer rate is slow, but most user never fills sata slow,

its ok if you not send it back, becoz GB per second is not really slow
