People STILL ride camels (and horses and donkeys and water buffalos and elephants) in many parts of the world. People in ancient times did the same things we do today except without all the technological tools we have. They built houses and cities and temples, grew crops and raised animals for food and milk and eggs, made music and art, had religious beliefs and rituals, had wars with each other. There are good books that you can buy at any large book store or on line with a lot of illustrations that describe everyday life in many cultures like anicent Egypt , Rome and Greece. Your local library should have books like it in the history or archaeology section. The librarian will show you where to look.
