What conversion adapter do I need to convert my 1406 edelbrock carb to my stock 72 350 intake 2 bbl intake man?

I recently purchased a adapter plate to convert my stock intake manifold to accept my edelbrock 4bbl carb. The problem is that the adapter that I purchased was supposed to go from spread bore to square bore, not sure if my intake is stock after all. Because the intake is not spread bore, it has two round holes in the intake and the adapter plate is way to big, it will never make up to the adapter( 2696) square bore to spread bore. I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Any information would be appreciated.

  • A square-bore carb is a Holley 4-barrel. A spread-bore is a Quadra-Jet, or Thermo-Quad (like your Edelbrock is based on). You have a two-barrel intake. For the cost of your adapter, you could probably scrounge up a factory 4-barrel intake at a wrecking yard. You’d be looking for a spread-bore to 2-barrel adapter…..This parts match up offers no performance gain bacause you’re still stuck with the 2-barrel manifold. Ya gotta change the manifold.
  • The two barrel carb will work better on that manifold. If you must use the 4 barrel, take the extra hour and just do it right by putting the correct intake on.
