  • Dihydrogen monoxide, otherwise known as water, is vital to green vegetation. Just think about the name for one second all you people who didn’t get the connection between the name and what it is.

  • Dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) is an obscure name for water used in variations of a common hoax that illustrates how ignorance of science and one-sided analysis can lead to misplaced fears among environmental activists and others.

The joke involves listing strictly negative effects of water, such as erosion or death by drowning, attributing them to “dihydrogen monoxide,” and then asking individuals to help control the seemingly dangerous substance.

The hoax was apparently created by Eric Lechner and Lars Norpchen in 1990, revised by Craig Jackson in 1994, and was brought to widespread public attention in 1997, when Nathan Zohner, a 14-year-old student, gathered petitions to ban “DHMO” as the basis of his science project, titled “How Gullible Are We?”

Dihydrogen monoxide is a hoax, not existing.Water has no bad effect for green vegitatation!!!!!!

  • Without this substance, life as we know it would not exist. 70% of our bodies are made of this substance. Also, 70% of the planet is covered with it. Green vegetation needs this substance to transport nutrients to its cells. I wish I had some right now. It is in everyone’s home in at least two rooms of the house. You get it all over you everyday if you have good hygiene. I love the stuff. In the summer I am in it all the time.

  • The paucity of this chemical kills plant vegetation. The stess leads to suppressed photosynthesis and growth among plants. Some desert plants have adapted to live with it’s smaller quantity. This chemical is basic to life and origin of life is possible in the prence of this chemical.

  • well, considering the fact that it is water, it makes it grow, unless there is too much, then it will kill it.

oh, and i am not a science teacher yet, but i will be in 2 years….
