  • They spend 6 times more money on prison then public schools for kids.

And I read somewhere that Philly is closing 20+ schools to build a 4 million dollar prison, wtf…

  • I remember taking a class in college which taught me what was wrong with the education system. Number one public schools are not so well funded especially if they are public schools that are located in ” bad” neighborhoods. They do not get enough money/funding like all the other rich schools in the suburbs. Many of them have metal detectors I know because I personally went to a public school that had metal detectors and I can seriously say that my High school resembled a jail. Many of the teachers within public schools are not interested in teaching and tend to get paid less than teachers that teach at private high schools. Because they get paid less many times they are not interested in their job. The regents exam do not prepare students for college and if anything, it sets them back because the tests are made up of multiple choice questions. There are so many problems that I do not have enough space to list all of them down. There are just a few but there are many more.

  • I would say it’s really good, from what i’ve read about it, since i’m not from USA. I dont know why people complain about it so much. I like that they have much more flexibility in choosing subjects in school and college. It could be poor quality of teachers. You know like how people consider teaching as a last option if they cannot find any more interesting career option. I have only seen two really driven teachers in my life, one was my college professor and another was our tutor. They really had passion for what they taught. Also. Another problem i think is lack of supervision by parents and the dating culture of Americans, so all they do in school is to look beautiful and searching for boyfriend/girlfriend. I think American schools should mandate uniforms, ban on dating within school premises at least, making education more practical and imposing tougher standards on teachers.

  • i think the problem has more to do with youth and how easily they’re misguided by media , fashion, and fellow peers.

the education system is basically the same since i was in school only with more funding now.

throwing money at something is pointless unless attitudes and agendas change.

  • 1. it teaches kids how to take test and not real world knowledge.

    2. It is highly biased to one way of thinking

    3. Many teachers don’t care about the kids, they just want the pay check (can you blame them though?)

    4. Schools now days are more like a daycare than a place of learning

  • They moved away from reading, writing , arithmetic, physical Ed , phonics , teaching facts and moved into sex Ed, social justice, evolution vs creation debates, leftist civics, political activism, focused on how children should be thinking rather than letting them think for themselves. Teaching them they don’t have to work hard, no one ever loses or fails or wins.

  • The progressives are changing everything and indoctrinating the children from the earliest of age.

  • its really not that much wrong with though it could be improved…to many kids have no desire to learn is the real problem

  • its based on money. it should be based on trying to educate people.
