Quoting the book No Meek Messiah:
Deuteronomy 18:13 claims humans must be “perfect” and “without spot before the Lord.” The New Testament concurs: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” Jesus declares (Mt 5:48). Impossible to obey, and thus totalitarian: the prototypical Catch-22.
