What top swimming school of fish would you add to my tank?

I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank that is cycled.

I have, 1 gold nugget pleco, 7 panda corys, 4 angel fish and 1 bolivian ram.

I am searching for a top swimming school of fish that will complete my tank, what do you think it should be?

thank you all.

  • Your tank sounds fully stocked to me. Angels get big and usually like 75 gallons when in groups bigger than three. Just a warning to you. =)

With Angelfish in the mix, it can be iffy, even with fish normally compatible with them. You need something peaceful that has good girth to it. I have heard Rainbow Fish can go well with them. They’re very peaceful, but some can get large and you wont want them in there with what you have, just not enough space unless you cut back the angels by two.

Also Harlequin Rasboras have been known to get along.

I’ve also heard Black Ruby barbs can go well with angelfish, but you have to watch out for nippers. They have the right size to go with them, and are usually very peaceful, but some CAN be nippers, which will catch the attention of the angels, so if you go for those, be prepared for some you may have to return and replace if they get nippy.

Cardinal Tetras are usually good as well, they’re like neons tetras in color, but they’re larger, so less likely to be food for your angels, and far more peaceful. They’re also about as active as neons, may a little less-so, and wont stress out your angels as much.

Danios are usually compatible with angels and one of the better choices, it depends wholly on how your angels are with other fish! Zebra danios being one of the most common choices to put with Angels. If you do get any other fish, make sure you have a lot of hiding places. Live or fake plants, a lot of them, and a few caves.
